Northern Germany is home to very versatile artists, who have created a great variety of works. Wenzel Hablik (1881-1934). is just one prime example. A painter, architect, interior designer, designer, and visionary, Wenzel Hablik is one of the most important figures in German Expressionist architecture.

The Wenzel Hablik Museum in Itzehoe offers a deeper look into his life and work. It houses the legacy of the German-Bohemian artist, who lived and worked in Itzehoe from 1907 until his death. The house, which became a museum in order to share the artist’s wide-ranging talents and his world-renowned creations to a broad public, shows a cross-section of Wenzel Hablik's entire body of work. It follows his career as he moved from Art Nouveau to Expressionism, to his Cubism-inspired work from the 1920s, and provides deep insight into his different creative disciplines.

After a fascinating discovery tour through the museum, the cosy café invites you to pause and reflect over what you’ve just seen.
