For our foreign guests

From Scandinavia

If you’re coming from Scandinavia, you have the choice of coming by ferry, or coming through Denmark and the bridge over the Öresund in the Great Belt. Of course you can combine these two forms of transport.

The most important connections between the different countries are:

Norway:

Oslo – Kiel

Oslo – Frederikshaven

(Bergen) – Starvanger – Hirtshals

Kristiansand – Hirtshals

Larvik – Hirtshals

Sweden:

Gothenburg – Kiel

Varberg – Grenas

Malmö – Travemünde

Trelleborg - Travemünde

further connections to Mecklenburg-Vorpommern e.g Sassnitz or Rostock.

Denmark:

Rödby – Puttgarden

further connections to Mecklenburg-Vorpommern e.g Rostock.

Upon arriving at the Danish ferry harbor, or by traveling directly without using ferries, travel south on the highway down the eastern coast and enter Germany through Flensburg. From there you will continue south along the A7. If you choose to travel along the western coast (no highway passes through here), you’ll reach Germany just behind Tondern, and can follow the B5 or A23 right into the heart of Holstein.

Upon arrival in the Kiel Harbor, travel south along the A215 to the A7 towards Hamburg.

From Puttgarden harbor, follow the A1 towards Bad Bramstedt; from Travemünde harbor, take the A20 towards Bad Segeberg, and from there take B2016 straight to Bad Bramstedt.

From the Netherlands

Choose the most convenient border crossing, and follow the A31, A28, or A1 towards Bremen. From there, take the A1 towards Hamburg, then the A23 or A7 towards Holstein.

If you would like to combine your arrival with a mini cruise, take the A27 from Bremen just past the Bremen Harbor, then drive to Wisch harbor. There you can board a 20 minute mini cruise to Glückstadt, and into Holstein.
