Picturesque town with lively pedestrian areas, museums, cafés, restaurants on every corner, and all this right on the water – this energy is what makes Holstein’s cities such beautiful destinations. There are definitely worth a day trip or a short visit:
- Brunsbüttel is located at the mouth of the Elbe and is known for its harbour promenade
- Surrounded by forests, Burg has a forest museum, a nature trail, and the Burger Au river
- The Wilster Au River runs through the historic town of Wilster.
- The district town of Itzehoe has one of the longest pedestrian areas in the North, as well as the Stör river.
- Glückstadt is a herring town full of historic monuments, with a view of the Elbe.
- The town of Kellinghusen, located in the Aukrug nature park, is known for its pottery
- Bad BramstedtBad Bramstedt, the heart of Holstein's Auenland is a spa town in the Holstein Auenland. Its statue of Roland indicates that it is a historic free town.
- Barmstedt and its Castle Islands.
- The lively Elmshorn on the Krückau river offers a lot of shopping
- The rose city of Uetersen
- The seaside city of Wedel offers beaches, docks where you can welcome ships, and one of the biggest yacht harbours in Europe, as well as the Wedeler Au regional park
