Aukrug nature park, ceramics, and cuisine

Kellinghusen and Hohenlockstedt are located in Aukrug nature park. They are ideal starting points for cycling and hiking tours through Holstein's Auenland.

Hohenlockstedt is closely associated with Finnish independence. To this day, the town enjoys a profound relationship with our Scandinavian neighbours. It’s reputation however, is above all due to its culinary prowess. Hohenlockstedt is the beating heart of the region’s potato cultivation, and countless regional producers have come together here to share the best of cheese making, fishing, and agriculture with visitors, under the motto “Hohenlockstedt – historic, culinary, friendly”.

Kellinghusen lies directly on the Stör, and and is perfect for canoeing. It is also the most important ceramic town in northern Germany. It’s glazed earthenware is widely renowned, and pottery and geranium markets are the highlight of its yearly events calendar.
